It’s hard to pick the best show – they’re all good. But for sheer unique entertainment, it’s hard to go past the Blue Man Group. They play at the Venetian and it’s a very simple show. Three men in head to tow blue who make music, jokes and sounds like no other show. They drum, they use different items as instruments, they run about madly. Part performance, part theater, the Blue Man Group is very different.

Some say that David Copperfield delivers the best magic show in the world. And in many ways, they’re right. Copperfield’s show is high entertainment with trick after mind-boggling trick. How does he walk through the impenetrable metal sheet? How does he climb into a box that appears to be shrinking as he manoeuvres? If you love magic, make sure you catch him at the MGM Grand in the Hollywood Theater.

Who is the man? Elton John is! The Rocket man none the less and he performs this and many others in the Million Dollar Piano show at The Colosseum in Caesar’s Palace. No one does ‘show’ like Elton. It’s an intimate setting to hear all of his good stuff – like ‘The Bitch is Back’, ‘Bennie and the Jets’, ‘Goodbye yellow Brick Road’, ‘Your Song’, ‘I’m Still Standing’, ‘Tiny Dancer’, ‘Philadelphia Freedom’, ‘Crocodile Rock’, and ‘Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting’. Just brilliant. A highlight is the incredible piano he uses which took Yamaha four years to build to Elton’s specifications and cost, well, you guessed it.

The Cirque Du Soleil people do a number of shows in Vegas and each is as good as the other. But, you’re in Vegas, so we suggest the Viva ELVIS show at the Viva ELVIS Theater on the Boulevard. There’s all the acrobatics you expect; all the tumbling, leaping and death-defying somersaults. But there’s also the music! The production features 77 cast members including nine musicians and four female singers. Songs include ‘Blue Suede Shoes’, ‘Love Me Tender’, Heartbreak Hotel’, ‘Don’t Be Cruel’, ‘Burning Love’, ‘Can’t Help falling In Love’, and many more. The creators spent 3,000 hours reviewing and recording Elvis’ albums, films, concert recordings, interviews and home movies to create a truly unique experience of Elvis’ sound.

Why not think of getting out and about in Las Vegas? Let your hair down in a supercar and climb aboard a supercar for a guided tour from the Strip out to the Hoover Dam and back. Jump between a Lamborghini or Ferrari and pretend you are the bossiest of bosses. Very cool.

Life is an adventure and even more so in Las Vegas. How about going sky high and tearing up your buddies in a Sky Combat tour. You’re in the cockpit and finding out what it feels like to be a real, live fighter pilot. See Las Vegas from the air and pretend you’re in a dogfight, race the skies and you’ll never come down from this trip, believe me. Aerobatic fun in the wide open spaces of Las Vegas is something you’ll remember for a long time.

If being a real life fighter pilot is just one step too far, why not try indoor skydiving – yes, indoors. Read, safe as houses. Well, maybe not houses. Essentially you strap yourself into a mighty big parachute suit and get blown up by an enormous draft of air. Perhaps don’t wear a skirt. It’s the closest you’ll get to skydiving with leaving the ground and is tremendous fun – especially for a large family group.

With all that extra daylight time, why not explore further afield? Bootleg Canyon is in the spectacular Mojave desert and one of the attractions is the zipline experience. Hook yourself up and go flying at speeds up to 60mph over the desert scenery. The outlook is great and getting there through desert country is half the fun. Don’t coop yourself up in as casino for your Vegas adventure, get out and enjoy something quite different!

Ziplining is fun!
