Let’s start with that rental vehicle that can eat up money faster than a hungry lion. If you are visiting Toronto proper, and not planning any out of city excursions, forget about it! Instead use public transportation, a bike or your two feet. The Metro Pass is cheap and convenient, especially during messy weather. If you’re visiting during spring, summer and early fall, comfortable shoes or a rental bike is the way to go. Check out the rental “Bixi Bike” stands where you can check out a bike and return in another location anytime.

If you are looking for a cheap way to experience some of Toronto’s famous streets, take the Streetcar 501 for a nostalgic journey in time. This streetcar will take you on a journey along Queen Street, the art district, downtown and ends up in the Beaches.

Miami Beach including the ever-popular South Miami Beach can really eat up vacation funds, so lets look at ways to save. First of all, if you don’t plan on leaving Miami Beach, forget the rental car. Your best bet and cheapest is to use your feet or the bus or rent a bike. That’s right, the South Beach Local bus for instance runs from end to end for only $.25, and runs between 8AM and 1AM every day.

You can also rent a bike from Decobike at $6 an hour or for the day, $24.

When choosing a place to eat, be very careful when it comes to your wallet. Many restaurants will already have the gratuity included in that bill, so don’t add one.

You can find some great morning restaurants and breakfast on Ocean Drive, many offering breakfast for under $5. As this is no doubt, a tourist area, be careful to check if coffee is included, and what cost. Many a tourist has paid for a $4 breakfast and $10 worth of coffee because it wasn’t included and each cup was $5.
